We would see Spurs feature in the UEFA Europa League since the 2016/17 season. They play hosts to LASK in this Group J encounter with the aim of picking up the points. It is then left to see whether the pressure of being termed 'group favourites' will weigh heavily on them.
This would be the first-ever European meeting between these two sides. No doubt Spurs will be intent upon getting their first win in this doubleheader. However, LASK failed to best another Engish team in the last 16 stages of last season's knockout stage. How well will they do against this London-based side?
Spurs' defensive frailties
Tottenham's inability to win games has been their major downfall this season. This defensive weakness is unlike a Mourinho side who is normally known to be resolute defensively. Nonetheless, they're firing on all cylinders with Son and Kane on top form. That being said, Spurs fans will cross their fingers hoping the team manages to land a trophy after all these years.
Kane and Son combined brilliantly to give Spurs a healthy 3-0 lead as early as the 16th minute. A Balbuena header, a Sanchez own-goal and an absolute wonder strike from Lanzini- all in the final eight minutes of the game- ensured both sides shared the spoils.
LASK keen on getting back to top form
LASK did well to get through to the UEFA Europa League group stage. They were most impressive in the final playoff stage as they won away at Sporting Lisbon to seal a place in the group stage. However, they haven't been impressive in the league copping seven points from a possible twelve. Although their last league match ended in a loss against Rapid Wien, they bounced back with a 3-0 win of their own in the OFB Cup. Will they be able to carry-over that same momentum as they travel to London?
