Sheffield vs Wolves Predictions and Betting Tips

The Blades host Wolves in what should prove to be a tight season opener at Bramall Lane. Taking into account both teams' exploits last term, this affair is full of potential. Who comes out on top at the end of 90 minutes?

Sheffield, at some point, were outside contenders for the top four in only their first season back in the top division. Although they didn't get to finish in either the Champions League or the Europa League spots, a ninth-place finish at the first time of asking is an astonishing achievement.

Sheffield United kick-start their campaign without major signings this transfer window. With their only signing of note being ex-Bournemouth goalie Aaron Ramsdale, Chris Wilder again seems to put faith in his dependables as they head into the season. Will the Blades be able to slay the Wolves come Monday night?

Alongside Sheffield United, Wolves also had a decent domestic campaign putting up fine displays at the beginning of the season. However, they fell off the pace towards the end missing out on European qualification. A disappointing end to the season was capped off by a loss to Sevilla in the Europa League quarterfinals.

Wolves broke their transfer record this window signing 18-year old Portuguese forward Pablo Silva. Fernando Marcal from Lyon also joined the side to further strengthen Nuno's backline. However, they lost flying full-back Matt Doherty who signed for Tottenham about a week ago. Wolves are expected to push for Europe this season given that they managed to keep most of their first-team players.

Mousset and O'Connell are both unavailable for the hosts as both are sidelined via injuries. With regards to the visitors, Traore and Jonny are ruled out.

Both meetings between these two sides were unsurprisingly tight encounters. The first leg at the Molineux ended in a 1-1 draw while the Blades narrowly came out on top 1-0 in the second.

Sheffield possible starting XI:

Ramsdale; Basham, Egan, Robinson; Stevens, Norwood, Lundstam, Fleck, Baldock; Mcgoldrick, Mcburnie.

Wolves possible starting XI:

Patricio; Marcal, Coady, Boly; Vinagre, Neves, Moutinho, Neto; Jota, Podence, Jimenez.

Sheffield vs Wolves possible starting XI: 1-1

This Premier League opener is expected to be intensely contested with both teams looking to start with positive results. Given that the Blades were decent on home soil last term, and with Wolves termed draw specialists away from home, we expect this encounter to end in a stalemate.
