Brighton vs Chelsea Predictions and Betting Tips

Matchday 1 fixtures in the Premier League spreads into Monday with two matches on the show. Our focus for this one is at the AMEX as Brighton kick off their season playing hosts to a new-look Chelsea. Which of these English teams will secure their first win of the season?

Brighton managed to avoid any relegation scrap in the 2019/2020 Premier League season finishing in 15th place at the end of 38 round of fixtures. In only their third season in the top-flight, the Seagulls have managed to better their best ever points tally as they finished the season with 41 points on the board.

Following the addition of Veltman, Lallana, and White to the squad, Graham Porter will be keen on breaking into the top half of the table. This, however, is easier said than done looking at the competitive nature of the Premier League. Having played a couple of friendlies in recent weeks, Graham Potter and his boys will be looking towards giving the Brighton supporters reasons to cheer come Monday night.

Chelsea secured a spot in Europe's top competition as they bested Leicester City in the race for the top four last season. Although the 2019/2020 season ended in a disappointing FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal, the 2020/2021 season holds a lot of promise for the London side.

Frank Lampard has assembled a serious squad with some high profile signings penning down contracts for the Blues. Lampard's pull-power looked to have been understated as Ziyech, Werner and Havertz joined to bolster the London-based outfit's front line. With regards to the defence, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell have also joined the Londoners.

Hakim Ziyech is set to miss this game after picking up a knee injury in a friendly match. Chilwell and Thiago Silva are also unavailable for this clash.

Both sides met in a recent friendly game at The Amex. Chelsea took the lead via a Timo Werner strike while Brighton equalized late in the game via Pascal Gross.

Brighton possible starting XI:

Ryan; White, Dunk, Veltman; Burn, Propper, Stevens, Lamptey; Lallana; Connolly, Maupay

Chelsea possible starting XI:

Caballero; Alonso, Rudiger, Zouma, James; Kante, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek; Pulisic, Havertz, Werner

Brighton vs Chelsea Prediction: 0-3

Graham Potter and his troops will be bidding to start the new Premier League season with a positive result. However, some exciting new signings are keen to impress for the Blues on Monday. As a result, we expect them to start the season with a bang.
