We kick-off the second leg of the Championship playoffs on Wednesday as Swansea City travel to Brentford. This match goes underway from 18:45 GMT as the whole world will tune in to see which of the sides will take on either Fulham or Cardiff at Wembley Stadium.
Swansea City head to Griffin Park with an advantage as they managed a narrow 1-0 win against the Bees on Sunday. Pundits predicted the game to be a cagey encounter and it was, as both sides didn’t want to lose the first leg.
The Swans missed a chance to go 1-0 up in the 64th minute as David Raya saved Andre Ayew’s penalty. The Ghanaian didn’t make the same mistake eight minutes from time as he fired the ball into the top corner after a majestic lay-off from Jay Fulton.
The Bees only have themselves to blame if they are not able to secure their qualification to the Premier League as they missed a massive chance to do so in the latter stages of the season. Back-to-back defeats to bottom-half sides Stoke City and Barnsley gave West Brom freedom to secure automatic qualification to the Premier League.
Heading into Wednesday’s game, they would hope players like Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma find their feet and help their team to secure a place in the playoff final.
Thomas Frank would be without the services of Rico Henry after he saw red in the first leg. Thomas Frank has no injury problems heading into this game. Joe Rodon is doubtful for the Swans.
Brentford vs Swansea Prediction: 3-1
Only Leeds United finished with a better home record than Brentford in the Championship this season. Swansea, on the other hand, do not do well away from home but usually gets their name on the scoreboard. That being said, Brentford will be absolutely fired up for this encounter and are fully backed to secure a place in the playoffs final.
