It’s a busy start to the week for football fans with three games to be played in the English Premier League on Monday night. In one of those matches, we will see the Blades welcome the Toffies to Bramall Lane with this intriguing match set to kick-off from 19:15 GMT. Premier League fans will tune in to see which sides will obtain all three points.
Chris Wilder and his men are currently 8th in the league after 36 round of fixtures with 14 wins and 12 draws against 10 losses, scoring 38 goals and conceding 35 goals in the process. Only Liverpool have a better defensive record. The Blades are however tied with Manchester United and Manchester City with regards to goals conceded.
They’re heading into this game after a 2-0 loss to Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes took the lead heading into the first-half break courtesy of a 29th-minute goal from Ayoze Perez. Demarai Gray then sealed all three points for his side after the Blades had pushed up to try and get an equalizer.
Everton, on the other hand, has struggled with inconsistency this season. With the calibre of players and coaching staff they possess, they look like a team that should be pushing for one of the European qualification spots. The reverse has been the case as they’re currently in the 11th, 10 points off sixth place Wolves.
They drew last time out against relegation-threatened Aston Villa on Thursday. Dean Smith and his men thought they had done enough to secure all three points when Ezri Konsa put his team in front after 72 minutes of play. Up steps Theo Walcott with his first league goal of the season to equalize in the 87th minute. Can the Toffies do one better and claim all three points on Monday night ?
With regards to Sheffield United, they will be looking to do the double over their opponents after winning the reverse fixture 2-0 courtesy of a Yerry Mina own goal and a late strike from Lys Mousset.
Fabian Delph, Cenk Tosun and Yerry Mina will not be able to play for the Toffees on Monday as they’re all nursing injuries. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to retain his starting shirt. He is their top scorer in the league with 13 goals. Luke Freeman and Leon Clarke are both doubtful for the hosts.
Sheffield vs Everton Prediction
Sheffield United have all to play for since they’re pushing for European qualification. They would, however, need to win their remaining two games and hope results elsewhere are in their favour. Everton, on the other hand, has little to play for and they’re expected to have their sights on next season. This presents a huge opportunity for the Blades and they’re odds on favourites to win this game and give themselves a chance at the top 6.
