With both sides already securing second and first positions respectively, Scotland and Denmark slug it out in the final game in the UEFA World Cup Qualifiers on Monday night. Read on for our expert tips and predictions.
The Danes ran put 2-0 winners in the reverse match back in September and it is then left to see whether they would do the double over their opponents.
Both sides on terrific form
Scotland clinched the playoffs position with a 2-0 win away at Moldova on Friday night, courtesy of Nathan Patterson and Che Adams goals. This stretched their winning run to five straight games with the Tartan Army not recording any loss since being downed by Monday's opponents about two months ago. There's no pressure for Steve Clarke's side heading into this game and although they would be keen on finishing with a flourish, they would have to work hard against a top-quality Danish side.
Denmark were tipped to secure the top spot in Group F, however, no one would've predicted that they would be as dominant in the group, heading into the final game of the qualifiers having won the nine games prior. We've seen them net 30 goals in nine matches, and more astonishingly, they've shipped just a single goal in all nine games. Their record of eight consecutive clean sheets came to an end last time out against the Faroe Islands, however, the goal was only a consolation for them with Kasper Hjulmund's charges netting three of their own.
Scotland vs Denmark Team News
Scotland possible starting lineup:
Gordon; Hendry, Cooper, Tierney; O'Donnell, Gilmour, McGregor, McGinn, Robertson; Adams, Dykes
Denmark possible starting lineup:
Schmeichel; Vestergaard, Kjaer, Christensen; Wass, Delaney, Lindstrom, Maehle; S Olsen, Poulsen, B Larsen
Scotland vs Denmark Prediction: 1-1
The Danes would be eyeing a perfect record in Group F and given that they go up against a side like Scotland who is keen on finishing on a good note, we don't expect them to have a walk-in Hampden Park. As such, we would be settling for a draw with both teams going home with a point each.
