Highly-anticipated encounter on the cards

The Swiss would've certainly been proud of their performance in the recently concluded European Championship even though they bowed out in the quarterfinals stage. Their main highlight in the tournament was the beating of the World Champions in the last 16 via a penalty shootout following a 3-3 draw after extra time. Now, they turn their attention towards booking themselves a place in the World Cup finals next year. Although they had a warm-up game against Greece in which they won 2-1, the Italians would be a bigger fish to fry and the Swiss are more than up to the task.

It wasn't a pleasant return to action for the reigning European Champions who had their run of 15 straight wins put to sleep by Bulgaria.
