France vs Croatia Predictions and Betting Tips
Matchday two in the UEFA Nations League goes underway with both Group A3 scheduled for Tuesday night. For this one, we would be breaking down the details with regards to the reenactment of the 2018 world cup final as France and Croatia go at it.
France after securing that unconvincing victory against Sweden were left with much to wonder. Deschamps set up his team using the 3-4-3 formation with Mbappe, Greizmann and Giroud as the front three. The three forwards failed to work cohesively which didn't come as a surprise to the 1998 national team captain.
Les Bleus managed to secure the victory with Mbappe scoring with the team's only shot on target. Martial came on late to win a penalty for his side. Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann stepped up but missed the penalty to cap off a poor performance from the French side.
Croatia, on the other hand, did not look like the team football fans loved watching back in the summer of 2018 as they were humbled in the group stage opener against Portugal. This could be likened to the absence of both Modric and Rakitic who withdrew from the squad.
Santos' side ran out 4-1 winners with the team putting up a very fine display. Cancelo put the defending champions in front with a wonder strike four minutes from the halftime break. With 70 minutes gone, the home team had already established a three-goal cushion. Two goals for either side in the 90th minute settled the tie in favour of the European Champions.
Mbappe suffered a blow to his ankle in the second half which forced Deschamps to take the forward off. As a result, the PSG forward is a doubt for this game. With regards to the away side, Brozovic and Perisic will be pushing to start with the duo starting the last game on the bench.
The last meeting these two sides was very famous in that it came in a World Cup final. France came out a top 4-2 as they lifted their first world cup title since 1998.
France possible starting XI:
Lloris; Varane, Kimpembe, Upamecano; Mendy, Kante, Sissoko, Dubois; Griezmann; Giroud, Martial
Croatia possible starting XI:
Livakovic; Barisic, Vida, Lovren, Vrsaljko; Kovacic, Brozovic; Perisic, Vlasic, Brekalo, Rebic.
France vs Croatia Prediction: 2-1
Croatia looked like a weakened outfit given the absence of both Rakitic and Modric. This was evident in their first Group A3 game in which they offered close to nothing upfront. France was also not at their sparkling best in their first game. However, they managed to leave Sweden with all three points. Taking all this into account, we expect Les Bleus to make it two wins from two games.
