Although both sides couldn't be separated in the reverse match before the turn of the year, the Saints- with two wins in this fixture prior to the 2-2 draw- head into this game unbeaten against Thursday's opponents since the 2019/2020 season.

Crunch time for the hosts

This would be the first time since 2012 that Burnley would play a football match at the Turf Moor without Sean Dyche as the head coach. They didn't fair too badly in their first game without him, earning a point away at the London Stadium over the weekend. Managed by U-23 boss Micheal Jackson, the Clarets took an early lead via Wout Werghost but were left to rue a missed Cornet penalty on the stroke of halftime as the West Ham replied with a goal of theirs in the second half. Burnley is currently in 18th position on the league standings with three points separating them from 17th placed Everton who has a game in hand. This isn't exactly the best position to be in heading into the final seven games of the season but they did secure a win in their last game at the Turf Moor so they must surely be confident in their ability to get one over Thursday's opponents.

With a return of five losses and a draw in their last six games in all competitions prior to the Arsenal match, Ralph Hasenhuttl and his troops had their work cut out for them once again as they locked horns with the Gunners who are gunning for the top four. However, an inspired Fraser Forster performance coupled with a Jan Bednarek goal in the first half sunk the Gunners, condemning them to their third consecutive league defeat. As for the Saints, it did put them back on track for a top-half finish with the side currently in 12th position, a point behind Leicester City who is in 9th. Three wins away from home all season doesn't bode well for their prospects as they head to Lancashire, however, it is to be noted that they did secure all three points on their last visit to the Turf Moor.
