There is midweek action in the LaLiga Santander with all 10 games spanning from Tuesday through Thursday. Our focus for this one is Thursday evening's encounter at the Ramos Sanchez Pizjuan as Sevilla welcome Levante. With three points up for grabs, who bags the spoils for themselves.
Levante usually finds it hard at Seville with their last win dating back to 2014. In that time, they drew only twice in eight games, losing the remaining to their opponents. In general, Sevilla is unbeaten in six games against Levante. This could prove to be some form of psychological advantage for Julen Lopetegui and his troops. However, Morales and Co. are not known to back down from a challenge. Taking all this into account, we expect to see a feisty encounter on Thursday.
Sevilla get off to a positive start
Sevilla, having lost their unbeaten run and the UEFA Super Cup title to Bayern Munich, started off the 2020/21 LaLiga season in style. They downed newly-promoted Cadiz with an impressive comeback victory. The new boys had taken the lead two minutes into the second half via a Salvi strike. Luuk de Jong equalized for his side to draw them level all thanks to some fine work from Navas on the right-wing. Munir got his side's go-ahead goal in the 90th minute locking on to a fine pass from Jordan to slot it in. Rakitic rounded up the scoring to cap off a fine performance from the Rojiblancos.
Paco Lopez gets his team their first win
Defensive errors were the downfall of Levante as they lost 4-2 away at Valencia in their opening fixture. However, they got back to winning ways last weekend as they ran out 3-1 winners away from home, this time at Osasuna. Jose Luis Morales produced a man of the match performance with a goal and an assist to bag his side all three points. It is then left to see whether they will carry forward that same momentum to Seville.
Sevilla vs Levante Team News
Sevilla possible starting XI:
Bono; Navas, Kounde, Carlos, Acuna; Fernando, Jordan, Rakitic; Suso, Ocampos, De Jong
Levante possible starting XI:
Fernandez; Clerc, Vezo, Postigo, Miramon; Bardhi, Vukcevic, Malsa, Campana; Morales, Marti
Sevilla vs Levante Prediction: 2-1
The reigning Europa League Champions will be keen on registering two wins from two as they take on Levante. Although Levante is a much bigger fish to fry, Sevilla usually gets the better of them. We don't think Thursday's affair will be an exception with the home team narrowly coming out atop.
