Tottenham vs Everton Predictions and Betting Tips

Premier League fans will still be treated to Match-day one action on Sunday with two games scheduled to play. Our attention for this one is at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs go head-to-head with Everton. With both sides keen on a top-six finish, we expect a close game come Sunday.

Jose Mourinho hasn't really impressed since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino last season. A 5th round exit in the FA Cup and a 6th place league finish sums up their poor domestic display. This, coupled with a last-16 exit to Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League capped off a disappointing season.

However, Daniel Levy seems to still have faith in the Portuguese with the addition of Matt Doherty and Pierre Emile-Hojberg to the Spurs side. Now it is left in both the hands of Jose Mourinho and the players to land the club's first trophy since 2008.

Everton finished in 12th position at the end of the 2019/2020 league season. Taking into account their squad, this could be termed a disappointing result. Carlo Ancelotti, following his appointment in December 2019, was unable to get the team going with the side struggling for form all through the campaign.

However, Everton are heading into this season with an all-round decent outfit. Carlo Ancelotti has the backing of the Everton board following the addition of Rodriguez, Doucoure, and Allan to the squad. The team is further boosted by a couple of loan-returnees, notably Yannick Bolasie and Sandro Ramirez amongst others.

Over the years, The Spurs always come out atop over the Toffies. The London side has managed eight wins of the last encounter between these opponents. In the previous meeting between the two teams, Spurs ran out 1-0 winners courtesy of a Keane own-goal.

Tottenham possible starting XI:

Lloris; Aurier, Sanchez,Alderweireld, Davies; Sissoko, Winks, Son, Alli, Bergwijn, Kane

Everton possible starting XI:

Pickford, Digne, Mina, Holgate, Kenny; Allan, Davies, Richarlison, James, Iwobi, Calvert-Lewin.

Tottenham vs Everton Prediction: 2-1

With a new-look Everton on show coupled with a charismatic Spurs outfit, this affair has the potential to be a classic. It has to be noted that in the last four meetings between these two sides, both sides have found the net. In this game, however, we find it hard betting against the home side who will be keen on winning their opening fixture.
