Nigeria vs Egypt Predictions and Betting Tips

The AFCON Group D gets underway with a mouth-watering clash at the Roumde Adjia Stadium as the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Pharaohs of Egypt go head-to-head. Read on for our expert tips and predictions.
Over the last 18 meetings between both sides, Nigeria have a slightly better record with eight wins compared to their opposite number's five victories.
Marquee fixture in the AFCON
Just over seven years ago, the now-late Stephen Keshi inspired the Super Eagles to their third AFCON triumph, beating Burkina Faso in the final via a solitary goal- their first trophy for over 15 years. They're still awaiting their first trophy since then but came close in the last AFCON edition, losing to eventual champions Algeria in the semifinals. They would have to do it without star striker Victor Osimhen who was withdrawn from the squad following a positive COVID-19 test. The situation regarding the Super Eagles head coach is also worthy of note as we would see former Nigerian international Augustine Eguavoen lead the team for the first time this Tuesday.
Given that they have probably the best player in the world- at the moment- in the person of Mohammed Salah, the Pharaohs aren't far off when it comes to the favourites to win the whole thing. They put out a disappointing display in the AFCON 2019 edition, bowing out in the Round of 16 stages after a blissful run of three wins from all three group stage games. This prolonged their wait for their first AFCON title since 2010 and although they're still the most successful nation in the competition's history, they would have to get past many roadblocks in their hunt for the prestigious title- the first being the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

This does make for an interesting watch with both sides heading into this game with top-quality players in their attack, however, we believe both sides would cancel each other out in a goal-scoring draw.
