Both Championship meetings between both sides ended in stalemates as they went home with a point. It is also to be noted that this is the second consecutive season they’ve clashed in the Championship playoffs with Brentford winning last year’s playoff semifinal.

Highly-anticipated encounter on the cards

Brentford has yet another massive opportunity at promotion following their disappointing end to the 19/20 campaign both in the league and in the playoff final. They did well to dispatch Bournemouth in the playoff semifinal as they came back from two goals down to win 3-2 on aggregate- Ivan Toney grabbing yet another goal.

Following their relegation from the top-flight back in the 17/18 season, Brentford makes their second consecutive appearance in the Championship playoffs. Given it was Brentford that bested them in last year’s installment, they would certainly be keen on exerting revenge on their opponents with a victory this time around. Barnsley gave the Swans quite a game in both legs of the playoff semifinals. However, the Welsh side managed to get past their opponents with a 2-1 victory on aggregate.

The Swans have featured in only one other Championship playoff final in which they emerged victors against Reading back in the 10-11 season. With Brentford not looking to lose back-to-back playoff finals, we certainly expect to see a tight encounter at the Wembley Stadium. However, we would be leaning towards Thomas Frank and his troops as they’ve seem to be slightly better on paper.
