Both sides have arguably been the best teams in the tournament and it is befitting that we get to see them slug it out in the final. We would finally see Messi and Neymar on the same pitch, once again, this time on opposing sides.

Brazil, via a Lucas Paqueta tap-in, were the first to book themselves a place in this showpiece event as they beat Peru 1-0 in the semifinals. It wasn’t as simple as that for Messi and Co. who booked themselves a date with the Brazilians by winning a penalty shootout against Colombia. Who would lift a major trophy for his country this time around, would it be Neymar or Messi?

Brazil head into this game as slight favourites, given that they’ve beaten their opponents in two of the three Copa finales they’ve met. Also, Argentina finds it hard to score against the top sides and coming up against a Brazil side that has conceded only two goals in this tournament, it doesn’t get harder than this. We are tempted to go for a Brazil win based on this but given the one-off nature of this matchup and Leo Messi on the opposing side of things, we would go for a stalemate in regular time.
