Both sides keen on a first leg advantage
Sporting Braga have been plagued with inconsistency for most of their domestic run this season with the side in 4th position and a whopping 24 points behind league leaders Porto. Nonetheless, they did pull off a magnificent result last weekend as they went on to get the better of Benfica in a 3-2 victory. Just like last weekend, Braga were underdogs for when they were pitted against Monaco in the Round of 16 but a 2-0 win against the French outfit in Portugal, coupled with a 1-1 stalemate in France secured them a double date with Rangers- another surprise outfit in the last 8.
Rangers were on the losing side of things last weekend against Celtic, a loss which puts them six points behind their fierce rivals in the Scottish Premiership. All this points to them relinquishing the league title, however, a European trophy is very much on the cards for the Gers taking into account their performances so far. Having gotten the better of Dortmund in the first knockout round, Rangers put themselves in a commanding position with a 3-0 first-leg victory against Red Star Belgrade. They did lose 2-0 in the second leg, however, this wasn't enough for their opponents as Giovani van Bronckhorst and his troops celebrated a huge win.
