They would then have to hope for a slip-up from Real Madrid in at least two of their last four games. Judging by the way both teams are playing at the moment, their chances are pretty slim.

Real Valladolid, on the other hand, is safe from relegation with a seven-point gap on eighteenth place Mallorca but will need a win today to guarantee a place in the Spanish top-flight next season.
