Liverpool would seal themselves a place in the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds this Wednesday if they can manage to get past Atletico Madrid. Read on for our expert tips and predictions.
We were treated to a five-goal thriller in the reverse fixture at the Wanda Metropolitano two weeks ago with Mo Salah's brace making sure of a 3-2 victory for Klopp's Liverpool.
Highly-anticipated encounter on the cards
The Atletico Madrid rearguard couldn't stop Mo Salah's red-hot streak as the Egyptian's well-crafted opener made it nine consecutive games in which he had scored. Keita doubled Liverpool's lead with a stunning strike, however, we saw the Rojiblancos fight back with two goals from returnee Antoine Griezmann. The French National team forward then saw red seven minutes into the second half, tipping the tie back in Liverpool's favour. The Reds unsurprisingly retook the lead via Mo Salah as he coolly dispatched the game-winning penalty to secure maximum points for his side.
Liverpool followed up this 3-2 victory with a 5-0 win at Old Trafford- Mo Salah at it again with a hattrick against Man United. However, the Egyptian's scoring streak came to an end over the weekend as he failed to find the back of the net in Liverpool's 2-2 draw against Brighton. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, has been a little sup-par in recent weeks with just one win since that 3-2 loss two weeks ago. The Rojiblancos were held by Real Sociedad and Levante but did manage to down Real Betis last time out. Yannick Carrasco with a goal and an assist was the star of the show as Simeone's boys made sure of all three points for the sixth time in the LaLiga Santander this season after eleven games.
