Action continues in the Championship on Friday from 16:30 GMT as West Bromwich Albion travel to the John Smith’s Stadium to face Huddersfield town in what is expected to be an exciting encounter. Championship fans will tune in to see which of the two teams will do enough to acquire all the points.
West Brom start round 45 of the season in second place with 22 wins, 16 draws and 6 losses, scoring 74 goals and conceding 41 in the process. They will be looking to make that 23 wins and move a step closer to securing a place in the English top-flight next season.
The baggies will be looking to bounce back from a a disappointing goalless draw against fourth place Fulham- the first time they’ve failed to score in four games.
Huddersfield Town who are currently 20th on the table is going into this game with a poor record this season. In 44 league games, they have 12 wins and 12 draws against 20 losses, scoring 49 and shipping 65 goals in the process. Last time out, they managed to secure a point against Sheffield Wednesday. They will be looking to build momentum on that precious point earned at the Hillsborough.
The Terriers are currently going through a rough patch with no wins in four games, picking up just three points from a possible twelve. They can, however, find solace in the fact that they've kept three clean sheets in those four games. Their attack, however, has not matched their defence as those clean sheets ended in goalless draws. They are in desperate need of their top scorer Karlan Grant to start banging in the goals if they are to pick up at least a point on Friday.
In the reverse match earlier this season, Slaven Bilic and his men recorded a comprehensive victory against their opponents. The mutuals were treated to a six-goal thriller as the baggies emerged victors 4-2 in front of their fans.
The hosts will be without Tommy Elphick who is still on the sidelines through injury. Asides that, Danny Cowley has a fully fit squad to choose from. Karlan Grant and Emile Smith-Rowe are both expected to retain their spots in the starting 11. Kieran Gibbs wouldn’t be available for the visitors following a hamstring problem. Slaven Bilic is expected to field star player Matheus Pereira who has scored eight goals and provided twenty assists this season.
Huddersfield Town vs West Brom Prediction :
West Brom will be desperate to return to winning ways as they are looking to hold on the automatic promotion spot. They could even do one better and nick the Championship title off league leaders Leeds United but this is highly unlikely as Leeds United are currently leading the way with two points and a game in hand. Friday's task, however, isn’t going to be easy as they go up against relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town who need just one win from their remaining two games to secure their place in the Championship next season. Could they pull that off on Friday? That sort of seems like a fantasy as Slaven Bilic and his men look like they're well worth backing.
