Amidst all of the controversy, the Cityzens did well to get back to winning ways in the league when they visited Merseyside last weekend. Phil Foden capitalized on an error by Micheal Keane to score the only goal of the game, however, this wasn't the main talking point of the game. A clear handball by Rodri in his box wasn't awarded to Everton, allowing the Cityzens to open up a six-point lead on nearest challengers Liverpool who have played a game less. They were far more comfortable when they were hosted by Peterborough United in the FA Cup, securing a quarterfinals berth with a 2-0 victory. As such, a treble is still on the cards but they would need to maintain a healthy distance between them and Liverpool and only maximum points here guarantees that.
Ralf Rangnick and his charges did secure a positive result when they visited Spain for the first leg of their last 16 ties against Atletico Madrid. A clinical touch from Anthony Elanga made sure they welcome the Spanish outfit to Manchester with the game still perfectly poised at 1-1. The Mancunians weren't as clinical over the weekend, failing to convert any of their plentiful chances against Watford. This was an utterly poor result given United's hopes for a top-four finish and although the Reds are still in 4th place, West ham, Arsenal and Spurs are hot on their heels. Taking all of this into account, Man United need to get a result this weekend- a feat they've achieved in their last two league visits to the Etihad.
